Look what I found in the bargain bin

The Pipettes
We are the Pipettes
(mi)

Price: S$9.95

Nothing like buying a DVD about three girls in polka dot dresses prancing about pretending to be some girl group. I heard its really quite naughty. What? It's a CD? Nonsense. I have perfect 20/20 vision. Like how I can see that girl a mile across the block over there. Saucy one she is. What? It's a goat? Oh ...

Look what I found in the bargain bin

Hope of the States
Left
(Sony BMG)

Price: S$3.95

There are just some things in life that you and only you are destined to see the value of. Take Hope of the States for example. They only have two albums and I own both of them, both purchased straight out of a bargain bin. Are they such a terrible band? Far from it. It's just that people can't see the point. Like how I can't see the point of porridge meals at McDs, or having just one fried chicken when you can have three or why guys like to play with their nuts after they shower. Oh wait, discount that last one. It's supposed to be some time honored code of conduct that guys are never to speak of. If you do, you'll turn into a hot pink rodent.

Let's get lyrical, lyrical: American Music Club - Goodbye to Love (The Carpenters)

I'll say goodbye to love
No one ever cared if I should live or die
Time and time again the chance for love has passed me by
And all I know of love is how to live without it
I just can't seem to find it

So I've made my mind up
I must live my life alone
And though it's not the easy way
I guess I've always known

I'd say goodbye to love
There are no tomorrows for this heart of mine
Surely time will lose these bitter memories
And I'll find that there is someone to believe in
And to live for something I could live for

All the years of useless search
Have finally reached an end
Loneliness and empty days will be my only friend
From this day love is forgotten
I'll go on as best I can

What lies in the future is a mystery to us all
No one can predict the wheel of fortune as it falls
There may come a time when I will see that I've been wrong
But for now this is my song

And it's goodbye to love

I'll say goodbye to love

This version of the classic depressing song reminds me of the time a couple of year ago when I was minding my own business, feeling damn sorry for myself for turning Christina Hendricks lunch offer down, eating a cheap Popsicle, heading back to a lonely house when all of a sudden, out of the blue, I was bitten by a raccoon. I mean, who's heard of a heel-biting raccoon anyway? Just as I was fighting it off, a horse galloped by and trampled all over me (the raccoon still lodged in my leg). And while I was on the floor, trying to pick myself up and wondering why a horse would be running wild in the middle of a city, aliens invaded us and made us slaves for the next decade. That is until I picked myself up from the floor and rescued the world (hee yah).

I'm From Barcelona
Who Killed Harry Houdini?
Mute

Price: S$3.95

I'm from Jarakuta. It's somewhere between Jakarta and a the ass of a barracuda. We do nothing but fish, drink beer and watch Happy Days there. Everyone has a mop top and we chase the girls around after dinner. Some times, barbecue some crows and shoot some racoons using BB guns. We've also created a nuclear bomb that we plan to use to take over the world. We are a peace-loving community.

Gig-gles: Mono, Kuala Lumpur, 30 Jan 2010

Ahhhhhh...

The world is such a quiet place these days. Don't you think so?

Mmmmm...

Yes it is. I believe the world has stopped making noise since Saturday night. Oh, that wondrous Saturday night. Did you notice it too? No? Oh poor child. Can't you tell? All peeps ceased to peep!

OmmmmNommmNommmm....

You mean you can't tell the difference? How odd. Anyways, I can. I even know precisely when the world stopped making noise. It was at 7 minutes and 35 seconds while Mono was playing 'Ashes In The Snow' at their KL gig. Yes, right there. Huh, what do you mean the rest of the gig was noisy? That's madness! The rest of the gig was quiet as heck! It was magnificent watching Mono just swing their hair and strum their guitars with such passion, despite not making a single peep from it. And the crowd... oh such silent reverence! Everyone was just... silent.

Hubbabubbabubbaaa....

Dude, you're mad. And obviously not noticing it. Ah, stuff you. Let me find a chap who does appreciate stillness. Ah you there with the monkey ears! Yes, sir, you! I wave a very good morning to you! Why don't we both celebrate the peace and quiet by massaging each other's ears? Here, you just put your forefinger here, and your thumb here, and...

BOFFFF

Hey, why did you push me! What? Sorry sir, I'm not very good at lip-reading yet. You're saying whaaa...? "Get louts in dirty space?" That's a weird comment. Oh, "Gap owns the nerdy place?" Sir, are you okay? Hmmm.... Oh, what? "Get outta my bloody face?" Oh, I get it! You're asking me to get outta your face! Why didn't you just say so instead of pushing me and moving your lips like a fat tapir and trying to...
