In the papers today...

A massive fire erupted at California's Universal Studios backlot. Among other things, the fire destroyed a giant King Kong statue and the Back To The Future clock, while over 50,000 film reels of every film and TV series ever made by Universal were also damaged. Of course, more could have been saved, but when firemen heard that the only known reel of Howard the Duck was burning up, they decided to sit back and let nature take its course.

Transformers was awarded the best film of 2007 at the MTV Movie Awards. Director Michael Bay and co-star Megan Fox accepted the award. Michael Bay said something important about the sequel. Actually, he might even have declared war on Russia, announce the discovery of a new species of polar bear, and pledged to transfer 60 million to my savings account. I don't remember; it's kinda hard to listen to anyone standing next to Megan Fox.

Fashion legend Yves Saint Laurent passed away in Paris, at the age of 71. There are three important things you must know about this man. One, he was instrumental in contributing to the rise of haute couture and ready-to-wear attire. Two, he was the first designer to use black models on his catwalk. And three, when I was eight, I thought YSL was a size above XXXL. That's probably because the only lady who wore it in my family was Aunt Expanderora.
