Because...I renewed mine yesterday. It's supposed to be a 15-minute affair involving an ultra-mod machine and the seamless union it makes with that chip embedded on the back page of the red book. But that seamless union unravelled the second I discovered that my chip was spoilt. Which led to a seam-filled, four-hour wait from counter to counter. Such effort, just to see the world.
